FeedbackFruits Tool Removal at End of Fall 2025 Semester

By Canvas @ Yale | Friday, May 16, 2025

After extensive review of community adoption and feedback, access to create and use all FeedbackFruits tools will be removed at the end of the Fall 2025 semester in December in our Canvas @ Yale instance for all users. If you are currently using a FeedbackFruits tool, please use the Fall 2025 semester to begin migrating your content out of FeedbackFruits to a different tool we have integrated with Canvas.

As you work to translate your FeedbackFruits activities to other tools available in Canvas, you can use this conversion table to help match appropriate alternatives to begin the migration process.

FeedbackFruits Tool Alternative Canvas or External Tool Notes on Migration
Peer Review Canvas Peer Review

Canvas Peer Review activities allow students to use an assigned rubric to provide feedback to their peers. However, the rubric students use to assess and provide feedback does not calculate or return as a grade to the student getting reviewed, nor does the student doing the review receive any grade for their work reviewing their peer(s).

Only the instructor, Teaching Fellow or other teaching support staff provide students with their assignment grade for their submission and/or their peer review work.

Group Member Evaluation Canvas Peer Review Canvas Peer Review does not support automatic assigning of users in the same group to review each other. If group members are required to review their group peers, the instructor or teaching support staff must manually assign all peer review assignments.
Interactive Document / Video Perusall Perusall has comparable functionality that makes migration of activities relatively straight forward, though Perusall does have more dedicated features to facilitate social annotation activities so the tool is not as streamlined.
Discussion on Work

Canvas Discussion

Ed Discussion

Canvas Discussions and Ed Discussion both support the ability for students to attach files to the discussion posts, however both tools require the user to download the file to view the attachment and neither tool supports social annotation / discussion on the file uploaded.
