People Tool Not Loading to Manually Add Users

The issue has been resolved and users can once more be added manually to Canvas course sites using the People tool button.

We have identified the source of the issue and are currently working with Yale ITS to find and implement a solution to restore functionality. Please continue to email askpoorvucenter@yale.edu with your manual user enrollment needs as detailed in the 5/13/2025 update below until a resolution is applied.

Update - 5/13/2025

This issue continues to persist. In the interim, as we wait for Instructure to resolve the problem, please email askpoorvucenter@yale.edu so we can manually add your users. To expedite and ensure we can add your users correctly, please email us with the following information:

  • the names of the users you need to manually add to a course site
  • the course role you need to add these users as (i.e. Guest Student, Guest Instructor, TA)
  • the name of the Canvas course site
  • the URL of the Canvas course site

Issue Detected - 5/8/2025

We have recently learned of an issue that is preventing users from clicking the +People button in any Canvas course and manually adding users to their course site. The issue presents itself as the Canvas page becoming unresponsive and the browser asking you to reload or leave the page once the +People button is clicked.

We have opened a ticket with Canvas support to resolve the issue though no solution has been shared yet. To keep track of this issue, please check back to this article.
