Canvas Guest Account Request

Canvas Sponsored Identities are only for Non-Yale students or affiliates without a Yale NetID who need access to just Canvas @ Yale.

If your guest needs more access to Yale facilities and resources (such as Library resources, building swipe access, etc.) or you personally need a secondary test account, please visit the Sponsored Identity Quick Guide for more support.

Request Processing Time

  1. 1-3 business days to process and approve request
  2. 1-2 days for account creation in Canvas after approval

Bulk Guest Account Template

If you are requesting a bulk amount of Canvas Sponsored Identities, please download the Bulk Guest Account Template excel sheet, complete the required columns, and upload it back to the form below.

Errors or issues with the data provided in the template file submitted will result in delays in processing the account requests. Formatting issues and incorrect or incomplete data shared in the template file will be returned to the requester with a note to resolve the issues prior to processing any requests. 

NOTE

  • You must be a Yale instructor, teaching assistant or course support staff member to request a Canvas Sponsored Identity.
  • If requesting a single Canvas User Sponsored Identity, you will need to be on campus or signed in with the Yale VPN.
  • Any Sponsored Identity created will have up to 18 months of access to Canvas determined by a de-activation date set by the requester. Sponsored Identities can be renewed / reactivated if the guest needs extended access to Canvas.
