Transition to Canvas: A Teaching & Learning Opportunity for Yale

April 7, 2016

A message from Scott Strobel, Deputy Provost for Teaching & Learning

Welcome to Canvas @ Yale, the campus community’s information hub during our transition to Canvas as the centrally-supported learning management system at Yale.

The transition to Canvas is not just a technology project, it is a teaching and learning initiative. Over the next 18 months, the majority of you will be transitioning your course sites from Classes*v2 to Canvas. Some of you may wish to simply replicate your course materials in Canvas, yet we invite you to take further advantage of this excellent opportunity to engage in conversation with the Center for Teaching and Learning about your teaching goals in the context of a course site design. We anticipate that these lively discussions will evolve far beyond the use of Canvas or the use of any technology, which is an exciting opportunity for all of us.

To achieve a smooth transition for all, the Center for Teaching & Learning will host informational events and open “office hours” over the next 18 months. In addition, we always invite you to contact us directly so we can set up a one-on-one appointment to meet with you.

We look forward to discussing your teaching goals and supporting you during the transition!
